Product Overview:

Pertronix Billet Distributor
Designed to provide maximum ignition performance and easy installation at a price you can afford. Now you can upgrade your outdated points or stock electronic distributor with a performance-proven distributor that features the patented Ignitor 2 electronic ignition module and a CNC machined 6061 T-6 polished billet housing and deck. The Ignitor 2 module uses Hall Effect integrated circuits triggered by samarium cobalt magnets, located in a magnet sleeve, mounted on the distributor shaft.

A powerful micro controller with adaptive dwell algorithms allow the Ignitor 2 module to adjust dwell angle to maintain peak energy throughout the entire RPM range, increasing both high and low RPM performance. By adjusting spark timing over the entire RPM range, our module compensates for inherent electronic delay resulting in more stable timing. Ignition energy is also sustained with less heat buildup in the coil and module because peak current level is reached just prior to spark.

Our Ignitor 2 electronics are compatible with any inductive ignition system coil, but high RPM performance can be improved when used with our low resistance (0.6 ohm) Flame Thrower 2 coil. If you're using a multi-spark CD ignition box, our electronics are compatible as a trigger.

Q: I'm having hood clearance issues, what is the height overall of this distributor and does it come with iron or steel gear? Seems there is confusion between what is listed here and what the manufacture suggests.

1 Answer

Answered by sales - August 2, 2022

A: From the top of the cap, to the mounting surface, deck is about 8. Your plug wires will add a little to that. Overall length cap to shaft tip, is about 13. The distributor comes with a hardened steel gear.

Asked by Hank Harden, April 30, 2022

Q: Compatible with a Holley Sniper on a 74 engine?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - May 3, 2022

A: Yes, but the Sniper will not communicate with it. You will set your own timing, and make any adjustments yourself. If you want the Sniper to control the timing, you will need either the MSD distributor with 6A or 6AL box or Holley's Hyperspark setup.

Asked by Michael, March 12, 2022

Q: I have a 71 302 Bronco with hydraulic roller cam will the 6103 distributor gear work for my application

1 Answer

Answered by sales - March 14, 2022

A: This distributor comes standard with a steel gear. We would expect you will want a softer material gear. We do not currently offer one, but expect it could easily be sourced through Summit Racing, or Pertronix directly.

Asked by Dan, December 24, 2019

Q: Hi, will the steel drive gear that comes on this distributor work with the camshaft that comes in the Edelbrock E-Street Power Package (ED2027W)?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - December 26, 2019

A: Yes, the distributor gear is compatible with the Flat Tappet cam in the Edelbrock kit. If you used a Solid Roller style cam, then you would need a softer, brass, gear.

Asked by Paul, March 30, 2016

Q: The Instructions say Hardened Steel Distributor Gear. Can I run this distributor with the hardened steel drive gear on a hydraulic flat tappet cam? If not, where can I find a cast or composite drive gear for this distributor?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - March 31, 2016

A: You will be fine with the gear that comes on it. As long as you do not have solid roller cam, you are good.

Asked by Scott, March 26, 2016

Q: Hi, I'm interested in the pertronix Billet Distributor. I have a 302 in a 1972 Bronco that I want to convert from points to electronic ignition. I don't know if I have a steel or cast gear but, I hear this is important. Can you provide me with the correct part number so I get the right one?
Thanks!
Scott

1 Answer

Answered by sales - March 28, 2016

A: The 6103 should be fine for you. If you have a non-EFI 302 with roller cam, you would want a steel gear.

Replacing the distributor and sparkplug cables was a gamechanger. Now my Bronco accelerates easier and smoother and it just runs better overall. Wild Horses delivered quickly, per usual -- all the way to Puerto Rico I might add.
