Heavy Duty Master Cylinder, 1-1/8 Bore, 3/8-24 Ports, Cast Steel SKU: 3079
Heavy Duty Master Cylinder, 1-1/8 Bore, 3/8-24 Ports, Cast Steel
Product Overview:
Heavy duty 1 1/8" bore master cylinder
This replacement master cylinder has twin large capacity reservoirs especially suitable for 2 or 4-wheel disc brakes. It can be used with vacuum assist brakes, hydro boost power brakes, or even manual brakes**. This master has the common 3/8"-24 fittings on both sides so you can route your brakes lines as you see fit. Included are plugs to block off the unused ports.
If you do not want to worry about adapting your existing hoses/lines, upgrade to our #3077 hose kit seen to the right on this page.
Included items: Bench bleeding kit, port plugs, and bore adapter for short-rod boosters.
**Note: Manual brake systems require the deeper piston back bore to safely accommodate their longer pedal rods. Therefore ALL manual installations require that the "bore adapter" (see image above) be left out, or removed if already installed, to allow safe rod engagement. In manual setups more pedal pressure will be required due to the larger than stock bore of this master cylinder.

Q: Which port on this master cylinder is used for front brakes in which for rear? This is going on a disk/disk application. Thanks
Answered by ☆ sales - October 3, 2023
A: We usually plumb the front to the front, and rear to the rear.
Asked by Chris, October 16, 2021
Q: Does this MC bolt up to the Bendix booster? How tall is it? The pushrod in the booster was too long for the MC that I originally had. Found another MC but it is too tall and the hood touches the top of the MC. Had to shim the booster to angle down the MC.
Answered by ☆ sales - October 19, 2021
A: Yes, this master cylinder does fit the Bronco Bendix boosters. It is approximately 4 1/2 tall. The master cylinder has a deep bore for the pushrod, and includes a spacer for the bore, if and when it is required. Sounds like you will not need the spacer.
Asked by Vincen Cover, April 9, 2021
Q: I have an original style master cylinder that continually leaks from the cap but it seems like the gasket doesn't coverthe entire rim of the MC. How well does this gasket cover the mating surface?
Answered by ☆ sales - April 9, 2021
A: On this master cylinder, there is normally a full rubber seal attached to the lid, that covers the entire rim of the master cylinder. Sometimes you can find replacement gaskets or seals at your local parts house, in the HELP section.

Q: I have this master cylinder on power brakes system, do I need to use the bore adapter and if so can I just buy the bore adapter ?
Asked by john wilson, May 15, 2014
Q: This item must match my booster mounting studs. What is the center to center dimension of the master cylinder mounting holes? Thanks.
Answered by ☆ sales - May 16, 2014
A: This is a custom master cylinder with slotted mounting holes. We have yet to meet a booster it won't fit. It's about 3-3.5. It will fit all the Broncos we have seen.
