Full description
The Gear Banger brings the shift knob back to a comfortable position close to the seat while out of the way of your transfer case shifters. Its shorter throws and shifting convenience will make driving your Bronco a pleasure.
The TEGB has a new three piece linkage design that lends itself to customization. Thrust bushings and a rod end shift handle allow for smooth operation. All pieces are fastened together with acorn nuts and button head fasteners to give this model a clean finished look. The TEGB comes in a raw steel finish so you can paint or powder coat as you desire.
Shifter bases are available for 0-3 inch body lift sizes. Shorter throws can be achieved by adjusting the new double clamp shift collar. Due to transmission shifter variations, the customer will need to measure their original NP-435 shifter to receive the correct shift collar.
Johnny customized his new Trail Edition Gear Banger by powder coating his parts in black and red to match his Bronco.

Q: Will this work with the T-18 transmission?
Answered by ☆ sales - February 23, 2017
A: We have had people adapt this for use with the T-18. Just pick the right size for the shift collar.

Q: I just stumbled across this Gear Banger kit. I have a 1978 Jeep CJ5 that the previous owner did a NP435 conversion in. I love the transmission, but hate the long throw of its shifter. Plus in granny or third gear the shifter is practically shoved to the dash. Would this application work for my CJ?
Thanks,
Danny

A: We have never tried it in a Jeep, but it may. You could always buy it and mock it up to see if it will work for you. If not you could always send it back as long as we can re-sell it.

Q: I have a 1986 dodge w150 with the NP435. Do you have any customers who have used this on the full sized dodge trucks?
Answered by ☆ sales - July 12, 2016
A: Not that we know of. While it is designed for the early Bronco's, people have bought them for use in other vehicles.

Q: Hi there, I was wondering if the short throw shifter will work on a 79 f250. I'm guessing it would if I went with bucket seats but I'd like to keep the bench if possible. The truck is mainly a winter, work, and light-offroading truck. I'm used to a short shift on my daily driver and I'd like to have that option on the 79. Thanks

A: You may be able to make it work for your application, however it is designed for the 66-77 early Bronco. Your shifter will need to either be 5/8 or 11/16 for the shift collar to fit. You can always try it, and if you mock it up and find it wont work, you can return it.
