Full description

The off-set trunnions in this u-joint allows for 10 degrees more flexibility than would be otherwise obtainable. It is designed to solve a binding problem and is best suited for slower speed traditional rock crawling and on the front driveshaft only.

The unique design of off-set trunnions sets the mating yokes further apart than a conventional joint. This allows for 10 degrees more flexibility than would be otherwise obtainable.

The Super-Flex universal joint was not designed to be a cure all, but rather specifically to solve a binding problem that one may incur under situations such as front axle droop.

The Super-Flex joint does cause some vibration problems. This is due to the introduction of the 3rd plane of operation, which will cause the drive shaft to run eccentric. The amount of eccentricity is a function of how steep the drive shaft runs to begin with.

In our opinion the Super-Flex joint is best suited for slower speed traditional rock crawling and for the front drive shaft only. Keep in mind front driveshaft binding is normally not an issue until you go over 3.5" of suspension lift, and then it depends on the travel capabilities of the suspension that you are using.

Asked by Brian, January 26, 2022

Q: Is this a greaseless UJ?
Are they mounted each end of the drive shaft?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - January 27, 2022

A: The U-Joint is greaseable, and has a grease fitting on 2 caps. Only one joint would be used, down at the front axle.

There is no problem so far with the 1st, installed on the transfercase/front drive shaft, but the front drive shaft to front axle has to wait until the front springs are rebuilt.

Order No.182012A Ordered 2-26-12, arrived 3-5-12, waited until weather warmed up, installed on 3-28-12,on 5500 Lb 75 K5, 10.125" lift with 17/40-15 Monster Mudders, installed on front drive shaft to NP205 Xfercase. Road tested 3-29-12, found OK, very satisfied. With 5-153X stock UJ, it was hitting even with yoke on NP205 ground some and large yoke on the drive shaft. Road tested at 30 MPH on dry pavement, part time 4x4, hubs locked, slight pulsation noise, deemed more than ACCEPTABLE. Will put same on front drive shaft to front axle when add more lift and put it on rear drive shaft. With part time conventional 4x4 I do not go over 30 mph in 4x4 on the pavement.
