Show-Quality Chrome with Industry-Leading Finish
What sets our bumpers apart is our five-step nickel plating process. While most chrome bumpers only go through a three-step process, the added steps in our chrome plating process deliver a flawless, high-polish chrome finish that turns heads:
- Step 1. Strike Layer (Adhesion Foundation)
The initial "strike" layer involves applying a thin, highly adherent nickel coating using a low-concentration plating solution. This step ensures strong adhesion between the base metal and subsequent layers, preventing issues like peeling or flaking. - Step 2. Semi-Bright Nickel Plating (Corrosion Resistance Base)
Next, a semi-bright nickel layer is deposited, characterized by its low sulfur content and columnar grain structure. This layer offers excellent corrosion resistance and ductility, serving as a foundation for the brighter layers to follow. - Step 3. Second Strike (Enhanced Layer Bonding)
A second strike layer is applied to reinforce the bond between the semi-bright and bright nickel layers. This step ensures uniform adhesion and prepares the surface for the bright nickel deposition, enhancing the overall durability of the coating. - Step 4. Bright Nickel Plating (Aesthetic Finish)
The bright nickel layer provides a high-luster, mirror-like finish due to its fine-grained structure and higher sulfur content. This layer not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds a level of wear resistance to the surface. - Step 5. Microporous Layer (Corrosion Dispersion)
Finally, a microporous nickel layer is applied, incorporating inert particles to create microscopic pores. This structure disperses corrosive elements across numerous small sites, significantly improving the corrosion resistance and finish of the final chrome layer.
By executing these five steps, the resulting chrome finish achieves superior adhesion, enhanced corrosion resistance, and a striking finish, making it ideal for show-quality Bronco restorations.
