Early Bronco Rear Disc Brake Kit with E-Brake

Take the guesswork out of upgrading your Bronco’s rear brakes with our Super Deluxe Rear Disc Brake Kit, complete with emergency brake calipers. Engineered specifically for the Early Bronco, this all-inclusive kit has everything you need to convert your rear drums to discs — no searching for extra parts, no piecing together hardware.

We’ve included precision-fit brackets and hardware for both small and large bearing axles, making this kit as versatile as it is complete. Stainless steel hard lines, caliper flex hoses, parking brake cables, rotors, brake pads, and all the small parts you need for a clean, reliable install are right here in the box.

Note: Mock-up and fitment are essential. Welding is required for brake line brackets, and lower shock mounts may need modification for caliper clearance. If you’re running stock 15" steel wheels, spacers and longer studs will also be necessary.

  • Complete Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit:
No extra parts needed — it’s all in the box!

  • Fits Small & Large Bearing Axles:
Includes all brackets and hardware for both axle types.

  • Emergency Brake Calipers with Cables Included:
Maintain parking brake functionality with integrated e-brake calipers.

  • Stainless Steel Hard Lines & Flex Hoses:
Built tough for durability and a clean install.

  • High-Quality Components:
All parts are brand new — no reconditioned or rebuilt parts.

  • Rotors for 5x5.5 Bolt Pattern:
Perfect fit for your Early Bronco wheels.

  • Welding Required:
Brake line brackets require welding; mock-up for fitment prior to welding.
  • Check Wheel Clearance:
Stock 15" steel wheels require spacers and longer studs (see fitment notes).

  • All Hardware Included:
From brackets to small parts, it’s all in the kit!

Fitment Notes

  • For stock 5.5" wide steel wheels, use 1/2" spacers and longer axle studs.

  • For stock 6" wide steel wheels, use 1/4" spacers.

  • Rear shock mounts may need repositioning for caliper clearance.

  • Always mock-up before final welding or painting.

Stop stronger, stop smarter! Complete rear disc brake kit w/ e-brake for 66–77 Broncos. Fits small or large bearing axles—eliminate the guesswork.

Asked by Brian, June 2, 2023

Q: Do you need to change the Is proportioning valve if I have disc in front?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - June 6, 2023

A: Yes, normally you will want to run a disc/disc or adjustable proportioning valve, if you currently have a disc/drum valve.

Asked by Brandon, July 31, 2021

Q: Do these use proprietary brake pads that are only available from you, or are replacements available from a local auto parts store?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - August 3, 2021

A: The calipers and pads should be easily replaceable. The calipers are equivalent to the 79-85 El-Dorado, Riviera, Toronado. 80-85 Seville calipers.

Asked by Anonymous, September 4, 2020

Q: Which calipers are these off of for part references?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - September 4, 2020

A: They are similar to the 79-85 El-Dorado, Riviera, Toronado. 80-85 Seville (E-brakes on the calipers) Rear calipers.

Asked by Dave, June 10, 2020

Q: Do I still use the spacer if I use your heavy duty axle retaining plate? The instructions appear to depict using the spacer with a heavy duty axle retaining plate in the last photograph. However, the first page of the instructions (the line drawing) makes it look as though the spacer is only used with the OEM axle retaining plate.

1 Answer

Answered by sales - June 10, 2020

A: One spacer per side, with the stock or HD retainer. The HD retainer may leave a gap when tight. That is normal, as long as it is tight, and the axle does not bind.

Asked by Dave, June 9, 2020

Q: Do you sell longer T-bolts to compensate for the extra thickness of the primary mounting plate? Once I install the primary mounting plate along with your thicker after market axle retainer plates my lock nuts are only about 50% threaded onto the T-bolts. Might want to consider adding these to the rear disc brake kits.

1 Answer

Answered by sales - June 10, 2020

A: We do not yet have a source for longer T bolts. We have heard rumor they are short on occasion. We have seen folks use a grade 8 bolt, with one point ground down to fit next to the housing. Sorry for the trouble.

Asked by Anonymous, December 30, 2019

Q: Is there any reason this kit wouldn't work with a big bearing 9inch from a '78 bronco? (minus fabbing up new hard lines to the flex hose)

1 Answer

Answered by sales - December 30, 2019

A: No reason we can think of, other than the included hard lines. The kit includes brackets and spacers for the Ford 3/8 bolt- small bearing, 3/8 bolt- large bearing, and 1/2 bolt- large bearing 9 housings.

Went together much easier than the one universal one I sent back to Jegs. Highly recommend.

It says: "Note, the rear lower shock mount may need to be moved for clearance of the new rear calipers. Please check fitment before painting or powder coating your rear end." Which was nice to know prior to sending housing to Powder Coater. I welded the shock mounts 1" in from stock before sending to PC. Now that it is back from PC, I read the instructions for assembly and see that the brake brackets must be welded in place as well. This is a problem given it is already powder coated. This info needed to be added to the warning in the description about the shock mounts.
Note From WILD HORSES: Sorry for the issue. We have updated the notes pre your recommendation.

Great kit, comes with everything you need. Finally feels like I can stop the horse without standing on it.
