Asked by Brian, June 2, 2023

Q: Do you need to change the Is proportioning valve if I have disc in front?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - June 6, 2023

A: Yes, normally you will want to run a disc/disc or adjustable proportioning valve, if you currently have a disc/drum valve.

Asked by Brandon, July 31, 2021

Q: Do these use proprietary brake pads that are only available from you, or are replacements available from a local auto parts store?

1 Answer

Answered by sales - August 3, 2021

A: The calipers and pads should be easily replaceable. The calipers are equivalent to the 79-85 El-Dorado, Riviera, Toronado. 80-85 Seville calipers.

Asked by Dave, June 10, 2020

Q: Do I still use the spacer if I use your heavy duty axle retaining plate? The instructions appear to depict using the spacer with a heavy duty axle retaining plate in the last photograph. However, the first page of the instructions (the line drawing) makes it look as though the spacer is only used with the OEM axle retaining plate.

1 Answer

Answered by sales - June 10, 2020

A: One spacer per side, with the stock or HD retainer. The HD retainer may leave a gap when tight. That is normal, as long as it is tight, and the axle does not bind.

Asked by Dave, June 9, 2020

Q: Do you sell longer T-bolts to compensate for the extra thickness of the primary mounting plate? Once I install the primary mounting plate along with your thicker after market axle retainer plates my lock nuts are only about 50% threaded onto the T-bolts. Might want to consider adding these to the rear disc brake kits.

1 Answer

Answered by sales - June 10, 2020

A: We do not yet have a source for longer T bolts. We have heard rumor they are short on occasion. We have seen folks use a grade 8 bolt, with one point ground down to fit next to the housing. Sorry for the trouble.

Asked by Anonymous, December 30, 2019

Q: Is there any reason this kit wouldn't work with a big bearing 9inch from a '78 bronco? (minus fabbing up new hard lines to the flex hose)

1 Answer

Answered by sales - December 30, 2019

A: No reason we can think of, other than the included hard lines. The kit includes brackets and spacers for the Ford 3/8 bolt- small bearing, 3/8 bolt- large bearing, and 1/2 bolt- large bearing 9 housings.

It says: "Note, the rear lower shock mount may need to be moved for clearance of the new rear calipers. Please check fitment before painting or powder coating your rear end." Which was nice to know prior to sending housing to Powder Coater. I welded the shock mounts 1" in from stock before sending to PC. Now that it is back from PC, I read the instructions for assembly and see that the brake brackets must be welded in place as well. This is a problem given it is already powder coated. This info needed to be added to the warning in the description about the shock mounts.
Note From WILD HORSES: Sorry for the issue. We have updated the notes pre your recommendation.

Great kit, comes with everything you need. Finally feels like I can stop the horse without standing on it.
