Early Bronco 2.5" Lift Kit with Rancho 9000XL Shocks

This suspension system is built for ride quality! Our All Terrain Rear Leaf Springs & Front Coils ensure a comfortable ride and excellent off-road performance. Added to that is a set of four (4) Rancho 9000XL shocks. These are 9-way adjustable shocks, allowing you to dial in your suspension to just the way you like it. These systems are a favorite of the cruising and camping crowd.

This 66-77 Ford Bronco Suspension Kit includes:

  • 2.5" Lift WH All Terrain Front Coil Springs
  • 2.5" Lift WH All Terrain Rear Leaf Springs
  • Four (4) Rancho 9000XL Shocks with Red Boots
  • 14-pc Front Suspension Bushings Kit
  • Rear Spring & Shackle Bushings Kit
  • Leaf Spring U-bolts

The optional Extreme U-Bolt Kit is highly recommended. This kit swaps the 1/2" diameter u-bolts for our 5/8" diameter Extreme Duty U-bolts and adds a pair of our 5/8" thick Extreme Duty U-Bolt Plates.

The force and stress placed on stock components by off-roading is enormous. We noticed that we were bending the stock u-bolt plates so we set out to build some that could take abuse. We also noticed the stock 1/2" u-bolts are pretty weak. It may seem kind of simple to take a piece of thick metal and drill some holes. We have seen those types of plates. The problem is the edge of a plate like this causes a ridged pressure point and can cause the spring to break at that point. We invested in tooling that routers the edge of our plates. In doing so we are able to keep a stock type edge which compliments the spring when it's articulating. These are a must have for trail runners and rock crawlers. Keep your rear axle and springs mounted solid!

Leaf Spring Shipping Note: As is the industry standard, your leaf springs will arrive unboxed with the shipping label taped directly to the springs. Optionally, though not necessary, you can perform a quick clean-up with a can of satin black spray paint prior to installation to address any paint chips. Original springs were typically bare steel and have served for decades without touch-ups.

Additional Items to Consider:

  • Pro-Pack Suspension Hardware Kit: Don't install a new lift kit using old, crusty hardware. Add our Pro-Pack Hardware Kit and install your early Bronco lift kit like the pros. Features all new, high quality mounting hardware for your new suspension kit.

  • Extended Brake Cables & Hoses: When you lift the Bronco, your rear emergency brake cables and the front and rear center brake hoses can get stretched to their limits. We highly recommend purchasing our extended e-brake cables and our extended center brake hoses if you do not already have these installed.

You should be able to run your stock hoses & cables with this 2.5 inch lift, but using the extended cables & hoses reduces likelihood of over-extension.

  • Extended Driveshafts: When adding a 2.5" lift to your Bronco, the driveshafts can be stretched near their limits. This can result in premature wear or failure of the driveshaft. Whether you need to extend your front and/or rear driveshaft will depend on the transmission setup you have.

If you have a factory transmission setup, you will likely be able to run the stock length driveshafts. We recommend taking a look once your lift is installed and assessing whether your Bronco could benefit from extended shafts.

  • Adjustable Track Bar: While there is no need for a track bar drop bracket with a 2.5 inch lift, it's important to note that lifting the Bronco will pull the front end out of center. We highly recommend adding our adjustable track bar to any lifted Bronco to allow for perfect centering of the front end. This ensures much better handling for a richer driving experience.

  • Adjustable Drag Link: In the same way the adjustable track bar helps to dial in the centering of your front end, an adjustable drag link will help with perfectly centering the steering gear. You should not run a drop pitman arm with a 2.5 inch lift. However, the adjustable drag link is recommended to gives you the adjustment you need to get your steering dialed in, ensuring equal turning radius to the left and right.

Asked by Gary Richey, August 30, 2020

Q: Are the leaf springs also progressive? Thanks

1 Answer

Answered by sales - August 31, 2020

A: Yes they are, for smooth road characteristics, and unsurpassed travel.

Asked by David Psaila, February 27, 2020

Q: Does this lift kit fit a 1966 Bronco

1 Answer

Answered by sales - February 28, 2020

A: Yes, but, the early 1966 Bronco will or could have stud/eye shocks in the rear, similar to the front shocks. Newer 1966, through 1977 had eye/eye shocks in the rear. The kit includes eye/eye shocks for the rear, so if you have an early 66, the shocks in the kit would have the wrong top mount for your Bronco, and we would need to switch them out.
