Early Bronco Front Grill
Early Bronco Grill
Trivia time: How many versions of front grill did Ford make for the 66-77 Ford Bronco? The answer may surprise even the more knowledgeable early Bronco fans. There were three different grills made for the classic Ford Bronco.1966 Ford Bronco Grill - The Eyebrow Grill: In 1966, the first year of the early Bronco, Ford released the Bronco with what is now referred to in the Bronco community as the "eyebrow grill." This grill gets its name because it has two stampings (one in each upper corner of the grill) that look like small eyebrows over the headlights. In 1967, Ford removed these "eyebrows" most likely to make way for the grill surround trim that was first offered in 1967 as part of the Bronco Sport package. To our knowledge, the 1966 Ford Bronco eyebrow grill has never been reproduced. Thankfully, 67-68 Ford Bronco grills are identical in every other way, so you can install this grill on your 1966 Bronco with no problem.
66-68 Bronco Grill vs 69-77 Bronco Grill - What's the difference? The difference between a 66-68 Bronco grill and a 69-77 Bronco grill is the stamped area for the turn signal buckets. Early Bronco grills from 1966 to 1968 utilized a parking lamp assembly that rested nearly flush with the grill. The lenses on these assemblies were clear and they used an amber colored bulb. From 1969-77, Ford produced the grill to accept a larger parking lamp housing. These housings protruded past the grill and mounted with thick rubber pads behind them. The turn signal lenses on 69-77 Ford Bronco grills were amber in color.
