Q: I have an 85 302 sbf manual trans with a 68 bronco bell housing bolts are 5.25 center to center for starter . I'm thinking this should work ? Can you check specs for bolt pattern please . Going into bronco with ax15

1 Answer

A: The bolt pattern on our starter is the 5.25 center to center. As long as you have a 164 tooth flywheel, there should be no problem.

I purchased the Wild Horses Gear Reduction Starter to replace the stock one on the my '72 Bronco. It went on easily. Make sure that you read about the Chevy-style soleniod. The rewire is easy. My rig fired right up. It keeps working well & fires my Bronco up fast.

The "Hi Torque Gear Reduction Starter 289-302-351W" and "Starter Relay" kicked my 68 Bronco that's been sitting dormant in the hot SW Florida sun for over 3 yrs over like a charm.

Perfect replacement starter. It sounds great and works great. I did need to get longer bolts to mount the starter as the stock bolts were about a half inch too short.

I just installed this starter to replace the stock version. Instructions very clear and simple except on my install the bolts that were on there was too short for the new starter. No problem just picked some up a half inch longer and was good to go. This starter is also quieter than stock so better sounding too.
