Pro Tip: Avoid Common Header Problems
Headers are a fantastic upgrade, but they come with their own set of challenges. Make sure to consider:
-
Stage 8 Locking Bolts will completely stop the header bolts from loosening, saving your gaskets from premature failure. Normal header bolts tend to come loose and that leads to the annoying tick, tick tick, from the failing gasket.
-
Remflex Gaskets for superior sealing and heat resistance. 100% flexible graphite construction means these gaskets are good up to 3,000°F - these gaskets won't burn out.
-
Spark Plug Boot Protectors to prevent burnt plug wires and boots that can lead to misfires, resulting in a lack of power and poor performance.
So, with all that in mind, you may be thinking, 'why should I bother running headers?' Probably the original reason you were looking at headers was for the power, performance and mileage gains. You can have that without the headaches as long as we add a few extras to the project. If you just want to do the slam dunk, grab our Complete Header Enhancement Kit for a trouble-free, power-packed install!
Tech Notes:
-
Not compatible with 302 engines using 3 or 4-port air injector tubes (these are sometimes found on 74–75 Broncos as part of the emissions systems) These headers can be modified to fit by grinding clearance on the header flange.
-
Not designed for 5.0 "P" heads
-
Always keep existing smog equipment intact where applicable. These headers do not require any modification of the smog system to render it inoperable—check local laws before ordering.
Whether you’re chasing horsepower, prepping for EFI, or just want a solid performance upgrade, these WILD HORSES Ceramic Shorty Headers are built to deliver—on the street, trail, or anywhere in between.

Asked by Josh, May 25, 2023
Q: What size are the primary tubes?
Answered by ☆ sales - May 25, 2023
A: The primary tubes are 1 1/2.
Asked by Mark, June 15, 2022
Q: I will be installing the WH 1.5 suspension lift along with a 1 body lift. The transmission is an AX15. Which will be a better fit? The shorty or the long tub headers? Thank you.
Answered by ☆ sales - June 17, 2022
A: We prefer the shorty headers. Easier to install, and more wiggle room. Long tubes are great, but trickier to install and sometimes require minor modification depending on your Bronco..
Asked by Rick, January 22, 2022
Q: Do you have an exhaust system that bolts up to these headers? I'm using your 2 body lift, and 3.5 suspension lift, an AOD transmission, and the 23 gallon fuel tank upgrade on my 71 Bronco 302 V8.
Answered by ☆ sales - January 24, 2022
A: Sorry no. We do not offer any exhaust kits. Normally we prefer to have one built at a muffler shop, over an off the shelf Kit. As Bronco's get further and further from stock, it can be hard to plan for a, fit everything, every time, exhaust.
Asked by JD, November 29, 2020
Q: What brand are these or who makes these headers?
Answered by ☆ sales - December 2, 2020
A: These are made by JBA.
Asked by WAYNE PRATHER, November 24, 2019
Q: Is the O2 sensor bung location on the SHORTY HEADERS Item #: 8007NET compatible with the holley sniper efi?
Answered by ☆ sales - November 25, 2019
A: Yes, it is. The bung is located in the start tube, right after the collector.
Asked by Jason, November 17, 2015
Q: Will these work with a C6 transmission?
Answered by ☆ sales - November 23, 2015
A: You will likely need to modify them to make them work, due to the size of the C6.
Asked by Hank, November 21, 2013
Q: will these headers fit a 351W block with GT40 heads from a 5.0L without causing interference or starter removal issues? thx
Answered by ☆ 8578 - November 21, 2013
A: Most of the time the Shortys rub the passenger inner wheel well. That is why we do not list them for the 351W. We do have a lot of people running them on trail rigs with 351W most of them have removed the inner wheel well for ventilation so it's not an issue.
