Full description
When WH designed the first direct fit EB aluminum radiator we had one essential goal in mind, that was a "direct fit." No mods, no extra mounts, just drop it in and bolt it down. For the first few years we enjoyed being the only place that sold EB aluminum radiators. The trend caught on due to the proven advantages in cooling performance of aluminum and soon radiators were available from many sources.
Early in 2005 we were looking at radiators from six different manufacturers. One thing we noticed right away was the vast difference in quality from one to the next. With all of them sitting in front of us we examined and scrutinized each one. A few were kicked to the curb right away due to the plain ugly factor. Who wants to spend four or five hundred bucks on something that looks like a monkey welded it together? Our original radiator was a direct fit but that took away from the core surface and capacity.
With all other factors considered, we chose the Ron Davis product because it was hands down the best of the bunch! Two versions are available: Stock V-8 and the serpentine version with reversed inlet and outlet for those running the 86-93 5.0 Mustang configuration. The transmission cooler lines are also reversed for the 86-93 5.0 Mustang version. WH stocks both versions with and without Automatic Transmission coolers.

Q: So, the description says to use the 4 core mounts. I was looking in the questions and someone says use the 3 core and trim. Which one is it and are they in stock? Thanks
Answered by ☆ sales - September 16, 2021
A: The 4 row mounts are it. The radiator is thicker than stock. Also, the stock, or 3 row mounts can be trimmed to fit, in a pinch. 4 row mounts fit perfect. It is best to call to check current stock.

Answered by ☆ sales - September 9, 2021

A: The standard radiator has the cooler lines on the passenger side. The 5.0 reverse version, has the cooler lines on the driver side.

Q: I am doing an engine swap with an early explorer V8. Will this radiator be a direct swap for the application as well?
Thanks!
Answered by ☆ sales - March 17, 2021
A: You will want to order the 5.0 version, reverse, for the Explorer front dress. This is the best radiator we have for the swap. Not much is a direct swap anymore. Some fitting or adjustment may be needed with your Bronco.

Q: Are these 3 or 4 core radiators?
Answered by ☆ sales - June 24, 2019
A: The Ron Davis radiators use 2 rows of 1 tubes.
Asked by Sean Scoville, April 14, 2016
Q: What type of minimal mods are you referring to? Should it fit fine with the factory power steering of a 73? Where is the input and output for the trans cooler located? Do you recommend pairing this with the flow kooler pump? I have a 351W.
Answered by ☆ sales - April 18, 2016
A: The lower radiator mounts usually need minor trimming, about a 1/4 triangle on the inner edges to allow the rubber insulators to spread open a little more than stock. With the standard inlet and outlet, the trans lines are on the passenger side. With the 5.0 inlet and outlet, the trans lines are on the driver side. The FlowKooler water pump is a great addition to keep your Bronco cool.
Asked by Pat Thorpen, March 5, 2013
Q: I purchased the Ron Davis radiator (with trans cooler, stock configuration) and need to replace the mounts - do I need the 3 or 4 core mounts?
Answered by ☆ WH tech - March 6, 2013
A: We use 3 core mounts because the 4 core mounts are too big for the Ron Davis. Slight trimming may be necessary on the 3 core mounts. Test fit the mount and trim if you have any metal to metal contact.
