WILD HORSES 4.5" Early Bronco Lift Kit
Upgrade your 66-77 Ford Bronco's ride quality and off-road performance with the WILD HORSES 4.5" Early Bronco Lift Kit!
Key Features:
- Enhanced Ride Comfort: This early Bronco suspension lift kit includes a full leaf spring pack, offering a much more comfortable ride compared to add-a-leaf kits. Perfect for cruising and camping enthusiasts.
- Complete Kit: Comes with front coils, a 14-piece bushing kit, rear 11-leaf pack springs, rear spring and shackle bushing kit, 4 Extreme shocks with boots, U-bolts, and a track bar drop bracket for the 4.5" systems.
- Durability and Strength: This system is designed to handle the force and stress of off-roading, ensuring your ride stays smooth and reliable.
Recommended Upgrade:
- Extreme Duty U-Bolt Kit: We highly recommend upgrading to our Extreme Duty U-Bolt Kit. Off-roading places enormous stress on stock components, and our upgraded kit is designed to withstand this abuse. With thicker metal, drilled holes, and routered edges, this kit complements the spring's articulation and prevents breakage. A must-have for trail runners and rock crawlers.
Important Note:
- Alignment Needs: To keep the draglink and track bar in alignment, you'll need to add a drop pitman arm unless you already have one or are using the inside of the frame F100 2WD steering box conversion. If you have any questions, feel free to call us for assistance.
Installation Note: Watch Your Caster Angle
Understanding Caster Angle: The caster angle is the tilt of the king pins (Dana 30) or ball joints (Dana 44) relative to a vertical line through the center of the front end. Positive caster tilts backward, while negative caster tilts forward.
Caster Correction for Lifts Over 3.5": From years of building early Broncos, we've noticed that about 90% of wandering issues stem from incorrect caster. The ideal caster range for Broncos is +4 to +9 degrees. When you lift your Bronco, the caster angle tends to shift negatively. Installing degreed C-bushings can correct this by moving the caster back into the positive range. However, for lifts of 4.5" and above, the standard 7-degree C-bushings might not suffice. Here are the three most common solutions for additional caster correction:
- Radius Arm Drop Brackets: While effective, these brackets reduce ground clearance.
- Long Radius Arms: This popular method maintains ground clearance, adds off-road articulation, and improves handling.
- Bending Stock Radius Arms: An old-school technique, bending the stock arms was a solution long before degreed C-bushings were available, achieving good caster for lifted Broncos.
Choose the method that best suits your Bronco and driving needs to ensure a smooth and stable ride.
