Product Overview:

Full description
WH has solved countless steering issues and we build in excess of 50 different lower shafts for all the different combinations that have come our way. These shafts are an excellent way to solve steering shaft angle problems that can result from body lift installations.
For manual steering equipped Broncos (66-75) grinding your existing upper shaft will be necessary for installation.
For 73-77 Broncos with a two-piece steering shaft, this will completely replace the lower shaft and it is basically a bolt-in installation.
To order a Custom Lower Steering Shaft, we will need to know the type of steering column and the type of steering box on your Bronco. If you have any questions, talk to someone on our sales team and they will walk you through a series of questions designed to get you exactly what you need.

Q: I can't get the lower joint seated fully on the steering box. Can get it about half way on. Is this correct? Don't want to hit it with anything that could damage box...
Answered by ☆ sales - August 10, 2023
A: Sometimes the joints are tighter than others. You may try some light sanding on the input shaft and make sure it is smooth and free of debris. You can use some light force if needed, but we wouldn't recommend and serious hitting.
Asked by Wayne C Prather, June 13, 2022
Q: Ive had my custom steering shaft installed fir a few year and love it. The one thing about it I'm not sure if its right or not. The shaft is completely compressed together when installed, which leaves no room for compression in the event of a front end collision. Should I shorten the sleeved upper segment? If so how much?
Answered by ☆ sales - June 13, 2022
A: You can cut either the upper, and/or the lower shaft. The upper shaft would be easier alone, as the lower does have a notch, You should be able to reduce it a couple inches without issue. If you want more than that, we would shorten both. Just make sure when installed, or when done, the tension spring is covered by the outer shaft.

Q: I have a IDIDIT Direct Fit from you, will this fit, as it has the newer ragjoint that you had me purchase also ? I am supposing that when I order this that I will need to let you know of this ? My Bronco is a 1975 w/ the original power steering box. Thank You!
Answered by ☆ sales - September 9, 2021
A: With the direct fit, you may use the original shaft, the new rag joint just simplifies the process. This collapsible shaft would work in place of the stock rag joint and shaft. You would select stock power steering for both the upper and lower joints.

Q: Will this work as is with a 2 body lift or do I need a longer length?
Answered by ☆ sales - September 29, 2020
A: The adjustable steering shaft does extend and compress. It fits most situations, from stock up to 3 of body lift.

Q: Is there an option to get the shaft with a rag joint on the upper portion?
Answered by ☆ sales - July 17, 2019
A: No, normally the rag joint is removed (pulled off), revealing a 3/4-36 splined shaft for the new joint.
