Early Bronco Transfer Case Shifters
Transfer Case Shifters for 66-77 Ford Bronco
The Dana 20 transfer case came stock on all 66-77 Ford Broncos. There were two types of shifters (technically three) used to shift the early Bronco into four wheel drive.
T-style Shift Pattern
The first style was used in 66-72 Ford Broncos and is referred to as a T-style shifter named after its T-shaped shifter handle. 1966 Ford Broncos had this transfer case shift pattern, but the handle itself was long and straight with a circular black knob as opposed to the chrome T-handle found on 67-72 Broncos. A T-shift transfer case can be identified by two shift rails with slots in them for a separate crossbar to mount into them. |

J-style Shift Pattern
The second style of transfer case shifter is referred to as a J-style shifter for its reverse J shifting pattern. This shifter was used in 73-77 Ford Broncos. A J-shift transfer case can be identified by the interlocks welded to the shift rails on the outside of the transfer case. |
