Q: Is this the control mechanism that installs on the interior side of the door handle that connects to part #6596 Door Rod 68-77 Driver, Outer Handle/Latch to release the door latch?

A: The inner door control connects to either the 6589 driver or 6592 passenger rod. 6596 attaches to the outer door handle and the door latch.
